in addition other interesting circumstances arise when a dog in the filed was backed off the map ..you aslk are we just dealing with incompetence or possible mechanical fail.ure ?
Also why was soo much abuse hurled at the steward that declasred it a no race ?
The well supprted dog was first past the post as the bitch with the broken hock was on 3 legs and gamely chasing on
i think the people that run the track at young have definitely got some questions to answer its possible it was just a really poor drive ?
So does anyone take responsabilty for that ?
ill be contacting grnsw tomoz thats for sure
i

The Stewards Report is there; on the relatively new GRNSW.com.au website

not a lot said ...60 days incapacitation for a broken hock ...yeah right wafj ...more than likel;y carrer ending and at least 5 mths out at best ..massive vet bills ...all because a bloke is too incompetent (or worse) to keep a lure in front of a dog ...no mention of any mechanical fal;lings the rest of the meeting seems fine ...there needs to be an inquiry into this and the aftermath

As lowners and trainers we are constantly told we must comply and take responasbilty for evey little thing ...the paperwork and the rules of governace are onerus to say the least ...blokes get rubbed out for postives and they have no clue where it came form ...just told its YOUR resposabilty etc etc
Accidents happen readily enough anywhere any time ...and that is part of the game
So where is the respnsabilty from the track and the authority ..all we are asking is a fair surface and if you happen to have a quick dog that the lure goes a bit quicker

As tragic as your circumstance is I can honestly say it would be nothing more than a honest mistake by the lure driver. Adam and Lyn (stewards) are very good/honest and Greg (regular lure driver) isn't the type to be playing games
I feel horrible for you because I had a break in/pre trainer hit a lure that stopped suddenly (wasn't at young) and luckily she could still race but will never be as good she could've been. Unfortunately you have to put it down to horrible luck
But airing your grievances (I don't blame you) will only incur gwic/grnsw to get upset with you

Was it the same lure driver for entire meeting?
Tell me what you know about the race?
Were you there?
Which dog was heavily-backed?
Is someone going to make a formal complaint?

Dave, Im sorry to hear about your dog mate. You should at least be given an explanation for the bitch catching the lure, of mechanical failure, bad drive, dogs speed took him by surprise. We more than anyone want our dogs fit and healthy and we spend tons of money and do whatever is needed to make sure they are. GWIC stuff things down our throat all the time and I dont mind as it feels like were thinking of the future. But its got to work both ways. Why did the the bitch catch the lure and end up with a brocken hock, please explain, this is a welfare issue for Daves dog and someone needs to take responsibility.!i hope the bitch can race again as it sounds like she may have been handy, regardless we love them all.! Best of luck Dave and Merry Xmas. Cheers

what i know was what the trasiner of the dog told me ...no i wasnt there ..one of the reasons im posting ...looking for more info
i was told the 1 was heavily backed in
my dog pinged and put 12 l on them ..caught the lure in the back strait broke her hock ...finished on 3 legs ...was overtaken by the heavily backed dog ...punters and crowd abused the stewards for declaringa no race as the heavily backed dog was first past the post ..thats what i know .. i dont know if the lure driver was same for the whole card yes myself and the trainer will be making a formal complaint ...can anyone advise mo on the proceedures and mechanism for doing this ?
i am aware grnsw and gwic monitor this site ...to say im filthy is an understatemnnt

GRNSW cover vet bills up to a certain amount of money. You need to get in touch with GRNSW and they will tell you how to go about it.

yes Matt understand what your saying ..and quite possibly its just an honest mistake from a comptenet lure driver ? he wouldnt be the first bloke to stuff up at work ..as i have done myse lf over the years ...what im saying is there needs to be an inquiry ...and some responsabilty taken ! i never intimnated anything against the stewards ..it seems they have done the right thing declaring a no race..i was told there was some ugly scenes and ugly words said said because stewards did the right thing calling a NO Race ...i honestly dont know if there is more to it ? thats what an enquiry is for ?

Dave i feel your pain as many do .It is a empty hollow feeling after this happens its even more painful when you lose that dog or bitch .
What you can be thankful for is that the bitch will be ok and you can breed a litter or two from her .
What will be very interesting is for the Stewards to see what money was placed on what dog by who if it is found to be the connected if there is a connection then GRNSW will be all over it ..
Take care follow up with GRNSW and Have a good xmas with your family

yeah thanx Kev same to you ..im not a big owner and i have had my fair share of bad luck as do most ...this was my only race bitch just hitting her straps in her prime and showing a lot of promise ..she was going top run the 600 out all day ..i dont have another race dog atm ... have some puppies coming thru but they arte 8 mths from racing at best ...actually those pups are the KMM outcross daughter to ritza ....so fingers crossed
tbh as an owner i was only just starting to break even on money spent to buy her and get her to the track ....just makes you wonder whats the freaking point ???

sorry about your dog. i suggested to al clayton and others at a meeting you can put a voltage meter on the input power supply of the speed control and the output side so it records the consistancy of volts or lure speed. showing any spikes up or down by the control knob. but alas
