Am I the only person who noticed a large wrapping of plastic sitting right in the middle of the home turn at Grafton in night trial 2????

How the hell could something like that happen without anyone catching sight of it. Hate to say it but it could of caused a big issue.

Has anyone else noticed the winning post appears to be on a bend?
Can they please explain the reasoning round that. Especially when the straight is so long.

Plenty of money spent and looks an improvement on the previous version. But surely the winning post could have been taken back 2 metres.

Rodney,

Yes, like yourself I noticed the plastic being blown across the track (trial 2), which could have been catastrophic, fortunately it wasn't.

I also noticed the finishing post, which does indeed look situated a couple of metres or so into the bend; maybe they couldn't site the boxes back further (although there does look to be room?), and thus 450m "looked" more preferable to 445m, who knows?

The above mentioned said, the track looks mightily impressive, and whilst they were only trials (less than full fields), there didn't appear much interference, hopefully this will replicate itself with full fields on race day.

All the best Grafton!

For those who haven't seen the new track here is footage of their recent trial night:

Without having read the Stewards Report, Grafton Races last night was pretty good, with less interference in the 450m races. Well done John.

Some people are never satisfied !!!
Richmond straight track knockers couldn't wait to put the Boot in and the biggest knocker has raced there and won !!!!

Mark,
I would have thought an experienced bloke like yourself would have enough between the ears, but obviously you don't. Plenty of trainers have been nominating and supporting country tracks. Just like I do with Lithgow. For two weeks I nominated for lithgow only to be told by graders either nominate for Richmond straight or don't race.

Lithgow had memorial races marked for both weeks and lost both meetings due to the obvious attention at Richmond straight. I'm allowed to knock the Richmond track Mark because Murray Bridge and Healesville are both ten yards better than the Richmond track, feel free to tell me an arm lure is the best outcome for a grass track. Which many believe is a cheap GRNSW cash grab. that includes the opinions of pro trainers.

I've raced and won their and all I can say is you sound pretty salty about it. After two weeks racing at the venue I think wrists and toes are going to be continued issues. And all my runners have pulled up sore in some way shape or form after racing there. Hence why I haven't been back.

It's blokes like yourself Mark that actually hurt the sport by trying to aim up at people who speak out about track safety and welfare. Do you see Capalaba with a arm lure?????

Foe the record Mark so we are clear, Grafton will be the blue print for future track design, same can't be said about Richmond straight which will probably be ripped up in 12 months. If you aren't interested in animal and track welfare Mark then what do you stand for???? Remember, we provide the entertainment. Not the stewards or track staff. It's time they took pride in what they do and we race under conditions at all times that are in the best interest of all racing.

Says the bloke who I've seen criticise hundreds, especially your keyboard warrior tactics on facebook with your fake facebook pic(faceless). I substantiated my argument Mark. Sadly mate you do not get it, because you belong to the brigade that have their head stuck in the sand.

Wanting safety and the best racing conditions is not being a hypocrite. Feel free to provide an argument why Richmond straight is better than Healesville or Murray Bridge, oh....and Mark, Ive raced at Healesville...A PLETHORA OF TIMES....LEAVES RICHMOND FOR DEAD.

I've not knocked the grafton track at all David. What I've spoken about here is pretty simple. The surrounds of the track on trial night would still have been very much like a work site. Making sure everything loose around the track was secured down should have been a priority. Also does not say much about the dogs website which still aired the footage. The track looks spacious and having a lure with no cable is hopefully a trend all tracks will have in the future.

Mark Duclos done a 10 minute feature on the track and behind the scenes it looked great. The club president looked emotional when interviewed. Obviously shows what the track means to him. However one idiot here believed I was bagging the track. If only he read the last paragraph of the original post.

It's not bagging it mark. A question is a way to solicit information. It stated can they please explain the positioning of the post. And MANY other good judges have asked the same question. A brilliant looking track that without argument would have been even better with the winning post better proportioned on a complete straight piece of the track.

I'd be happy to hear the reasoning why, as would many others as to why it was placed in the position it was. Is it unfair to reason and say the straight is generous and long and the post could be moved further back up the track?

Does the current positioning disadvantage dogs on the outside who as approaching the post may begin to lean in, rather than continue in a straight line? It's not an unfair question Mark. Not at all.

Because god forbid if they did have a different opinion Mark, because they'd be whinging right???

Like the Beatles Mark, if you remember them, being number 1 at anything is not enough. To be the best you always need to review and see if anything can be done better. Like everything in life Mark. brain storming, open questioning and discussion are always good ways to discuss issues in racing.

Sadly it seems your interpretation seems to be if anyone has a difference of opinion, it's whinging. I'd love you to tell me, that you have walked the planet and never questioned or disliked a situation or life moment that you have been involved in and not had a difference of opinion, of course you have, so does that make you a whinger as well????

Tell me Richmond straight Mark would not be better if it was loam....during it's development, did you not stop to think and ask why it wasn't loam. When other straight tracks in other states are predominately loam????

I want to thank you for trying to single me out, I appreciate it. The good old bullying in numbers because an opinion is different. I wouldn't want to be part of your sour point of view anyway Mark. Enjoy your night(If you can).
