This is a great thing for Bundy and i'm sure some exciting times ahead for the club. As Ron and Brian have stated with everyone at the club working together i'm sure the club will only move onwards and upwards.

To Shaun nice to know that you have already inspected the track and its facilities and we look forward to seeing you at the next meeting provided you have a drink come and see me we will have one together and to you John Quarman thank you for your recent support of the club and more importantly your comments about changes and improvements, John I would suggest that you put those items you mentioned in a letter to the committee of the club. The club will have a new committee come next month and we can all only hope that the chook raffle mentality will be shown the back door and a committee intent on taking Bundy into the future will be elected by members who all have a burning desire to see this club succeed. Look forward to seeing you next when your up.

Hey Ron,
At this point in time there won't be a next time.My experiences traveling 4 hours up to Bundy haven't been enjoyable. Going from lure breakdown to having my dog locked in that broom closet for a couple of hours for a swab which took an hour after the last race to be done, adding another hour to the trip home. Then race 9 on cup day was the last straw for me .Trainers beware the lure can be anywhere from beside the boxes to 50 meters stationary up the track to constitute a fair start in Bundy.Different rule book up there .Worth traveling for ?? I think Not.All the best.John

My sediments exactly John, Being some one that has had more experiences in Bundy than any other race track in aus (good & bad), in the foreseeable future I will not be racing there. Now knowing the what the true outcome of the Bundy cup this year should have been, .... (A NO RACE).... It is interesting to see how things are really going at the club.
I understand that the lure driver on cup day was inexperienced and I agree you only get experience by practice, however for no one to open their mouth on cup day and say that a mistake was made in the distance that the lure was in front of the lead dog going into the back straight is not acceptable.Thats why there are specified distances in the rule book..

I have been advised that 2 races on cup day should have been no races both due to human error which were not properly acted upon.
I would rather have a NO RACE than to loose the opportunity at $3500+ because no one wants to own up to a mistake...

If Bundy wants to become a TAB venue there needs to be some major changes in the operation of the club on races days before I will spend 10 hours travelling to race.

I along with many others have wondered when you would actually put your sour grapes to print instead of just getting behind the boxes at Albion and making inane comments about your potential loss. You only started your diatribe because of another trainer who thought he could come to Bundy and take the chocolates from the locals. Alan I have viewed the race video and this is how the race panned out, you led into the back straight where you were quickly claimed by the eventual winner, my dog then got underneath you and at that stage it became a virtual two dog race, your in easing then caused severe interference to the runners coming from behind, its there for everyone to see, it appears as your dog either sustained severe injury or he decided that it all become a little bit to hard .Another interesting aspect of your whinge is that after the race we in Bundy all heard that your dog had sustained some sort of injury and yet there you at Albion within a week of said serious injury. I think its very sad that you are still continuing to try and take away the credit of this years Bundy cup winner. And as a response to your comment about lure drivers having to learn Alan they tell me you were too flash when you first when to Golden View so you of all people should learn to be less critical.

Looking forward to visiting bundy next year as we are coming up as a family for a holiday.

I take it talking to people about lure drivers is out of the question?

TAB status you must be doing someting right and good luck and all the best to all that are connected to bundy.

Ron,
Unlike most I waited until I had the correct information which was given to me by the Cheif steward of Qld greyhound racing...Stewards words, not mine "there is no doubt that both races in bundaberg should have been "no races" on cup day.
On cup day I suspected that the dog had an injury due to the fact that I had no other reasons that I saw for the dogs performence.
The dog was found to have no major injuries, his back was out and slightly sore in a pencil, when checked on the Monday. I only requested that the stewards video be reviewed after another respected queensland trainer contacted me with his concerns about the race on the Monday...
It took so long for me to respond because it took 3 weeks for the video to arrive at RQL.....
As for learning to drive the lure, "Golden View" is a trial track NOT a race track, all drivers make mistakes but when your learing if your mistakes aren't pointed out you never learn.

Alan, wasnt there on cup day to see the days action. Spent a nice day out fishing instead. But I have since been to several meetings here lately & have noticed a marked improvement in the lure driving. Without racing any I have no bias either way & is now fairly consistent I would say.
Mr Bateman I think is now the official lure driver & does a good job I feel. The other younger bloke is a bit over the place at times. He can put in a real good drive then come the trials he has some real shockers.
I guess the response time to the motor & cable is a lot less then the old Bramich we had years ago which you could clearly keep it an inch from the dogs nose & adjust easily when required.

They have to start somewhere to learn. A few here have tried & failed. It isnt as easy as it looks aparently. Havent actually had a go myself, but I am not here to drive the lure but except for a drag lure up my straight at home.

I am sure once this place is up & running on the TAB, they will come. If they dont it doesnt matter. There will be enough around to hold our own, just as Rocky are doing now. They dont have to rely on people to travel there to make up the numbers, they can do it on their own. Same will happen here within a couple of months when the numbers build up.

From last I heard out of the office here is that the prizemoney increases will commence the Sept 1st meeting & TAB will start in November once all set up.

Brian I agree with what you have said, It is not that easy, however the only problem that I have is that when people are paid to a job & they don't do it properly they need to own up to their mistakes whatever the outcome maybe. No one likes to go to the races and see any race declared a NO RACE but if a dogs actions are impeeded upon due to the lure distance approprite action needs to be taken.

We wish this was the case.
Original post was from 2012.
Whatever became of that I dont know but it never came to fruition.
With Logan on the table, Bundaberg has disappeared off the radar. Similar to MH370.
Lets see what the windfall agreement brings for us all in QLD just around the corner.

Not only has Bundaberg dropped off the TAB radar but what happened to track upgrades to Townsville & Rockhampton.

I wouldn't be surprised if Rocky loses its current status if the vision and camera angles are not improved.

I know she's an oldie Brian, it was the news that prompted me to get a couple of pups, that sad thing is Logan was well and truly on the agenda at this time and the Bundaberg Club was looking as though it was being rewarded for all their hard work.

Logan looks like it is going ahead, Bundaberg gets kicked in the guts, with no supportable reason being given

Robert it is not good enough. I have not raced in Rocky but raced in Townsville from 83-95 and now live near Bundy, country racing (I include Capalaba in this) deserves a better deal, with the announcement of the new Tatts deal, ALL Clubs in should be given the chance at TAB level and their facilities should reflect this.

It is Greyhounds QLD not Greyhounds Brisbane.

Plans are made public and they do not always come to fruition as evidenced by Bundaberg's plight for TAB status.

It would seem that Agendas which are not public get in the way

Agree John.

Imo I see good arguments for greyhound precincts located in country areas where land is cheaper & local councils support dog permits. The industry just needs to pump some money into upgrading the facilities (like in Victoria) & have the support of authorities/Sky.

Greyhound racing is no longer a spectator sport where patrons need to go to the track so tracks don't need to be located where there is large population. They just need Sky 1 coverage.

Robert, the thing is we are not asking to develop greenfield sites,
just upgrade facilities in areas that already have the necessary
infrastructure in place, and no one is asking for handouts on the never never, just the opportunity to compete on an equal footing.

Bundy needs a Sky Channel Link ( which may be shared with gallops?) and the lights fixed as I understand and a date that's it, lets rock and roll.

Dixon lied and stagnated the greyhound code for 3 years, never had any intention of making Bundaberg TAB,quite the opposite in fact he stripped meetings from that Club and halted Logan for 3 years with more lies.
