On Monday the 17th of February at London's city hall we are planning a show of passion. It's a peaceful demonstration to show our support for greyhound racing and for Paschal Taggart's plan, for the new Wimbledon. We would like as many people and dogs as possible to attend. (Edited by admin) It is booked for 2pm.

Here is a link for some of details. (Updated by admin 29/1/14)

Copied from Talking Dogs on the IGB website

WIMBLEDON “SHOW OF PASSION” IS PLANNED
25/01/2014

While the general impression after Wednesday’s hearing into the future of Wimbledon Stadium was that things did not go well from a greyhound viewpoint, there were some positive signs and chief among these was the backing from local residents.

What was most disappointing to Paschal Taggart and his team was that Mayor of London, Boris Johnson has back-tracked on his earlier clear backing for the greater proposal and also that the British greyhound public did not turn up in their droves to support the greyhound cause at the meeting in Morden Town Hall.

Taggart appealed on the RPGTV on Wednesday night for the greyhound community to come out of hiding and show they mean business.

The plea was taken up by the Racing Post and it is now being planned to stage a mass protest under the title of Show of Passion at London’s City Hall in February, probably Monday 17th.

Young trainer Tom Levers was present in the Morden Town Hall on Wednesday and he said: "This isn't just about my future but the future of greyhound racing as a whole," he said, "and people need to battle for it because there are many who would happily take it away.

"We have the prospect [with Paschal Taggart's plan] of a world class greyhound stadium being built and as greyhound people we have to fight for it. At the end of the day, the final decision could come down to the Mayor and he needs to be aware just what greyhound racing means to London and how it is a vital part of our cultural heritage."

Taggart has appealed to the British and Irish greyhound community to come out and show they mean business.

good man Tom
get the people out.
Tel Malcolm and Kathlene I said hello.
Just so people understand,
Malcolm used to run at a local track near Aldershot it closed then he trained at Reading it closed then he had to go to Portsmouth it closed, now Wimbledon and its under threat.Malcolm has always kept a dog or two for me and we have had some great crack over the years, Tom 23 has took over and loves the game its his only interest, If Wimbledon closes I'm sure he will race somewhere, but where.
good luck Tom

Thanks everyone for the support!
Today has been very productive.
I've spoken to quite a few trainers and they are really up for the event and very supportive.
As for the time and date we are 99% sure it is okay.
We will get the final call tomorrow.
Keep up the good work!

Thanks

Tom

Great idea and I will attend. The difficultly we have is that the final decision is with Boris (unless there is Judicial Review) and Boris has three main policies. They are "housing", "housing" and more "housing". I am a surveyor in London and have just had an invite to attend a conference on housing. The header on the advertising comes from a Boris quote "how can we build an additional 40,000 homes in London every year".

What my point is that we need to attempt to take the decision away from Boris. NAMA own the debt and the reality is that they control the situation. NAMA must be made to see that they should deal with the brilliant Paschal Taggart plan.

I Think the same way as U Howard I have Emailed Minister Tom Hayes making that exact point twice in the last ten days and pointing out the gravity of this decision on the greyhound industry and why N.A.M.A has shown such poor judgement IN NOT BACKING THE GREYHOUND INDUSTRY AND 10,500 JOBS.He is to revert back to me as soon as he has answers.
