Was an excellent turn out. Well organised and sent all the right messages.

Lets hope it does some good.

Was great to see so many faces over from Ireland to show their support, also to see the likes of Barney Curley there too - a man true to his word.

Well done all.

Good News Paul! Heard that it goes to discussion this afternoon...so we should have an answer by tomorrow hopefully?!

Has it already finished Paul? Thought it officially ran from 2 until 3pm? What did you estimate the turn out to be?

I'd say there were a good 200 - 250 there. There were quite a few onlookers that kept coming over to see what was going on too, which helped visually in terms of the weight of numbers.

I just went for the first hour and had to come away back to work. They did the letter hand over etc and there was clapping and a big cheer - it was all very positive and good natured. The dogs being there was really good too - generated a lot of interest from people passing by.

There will be a few beers being sunk now I would say....

Sounds positive Paul & on a sidenote, nice for the public to see what placid animals the greyhounds are....

There were expected to be at least 120 from Ireland attend so, if that was the case, did they only attract 100 - 150 from England?

I'm on my way back and I would say wait for official figures before speculating.
In my opinion there was a very good turnout from both sides of the water. Well done everyone a fantastic Show of Passion!

Official figs from metropolitan police was between 600-700.
There was over 100 from ireland.

It went extremely well and the deputy mayor spoke very positively about greyhound racing being kept at Wimbledon.

Great turn out great day well done to all.

Fantastic turnout!

It felt like Derby night in Shelbourne and Wimbledon combined.

There are not many sports that engender unity from both sides of the Irish Sea like greyhound racing can. There was lots of cheering and clapping as the doggie superstars strutted their stuff in front of City Hall.

People came from far and wide and everyone had a story to tell. It was great to be part of the day and I think Mr Johnson will be left with a lasting impression of the passion that we showed for the love of our sport.

Thank you sincerely to everyone who turned up today or who sent messages of support.

P.S. I got a little bit awestruck when I met Spiridon Louis! What a superstar. He's enjoying his retirement being spoiled rotten by his dedicated owners.

I met a man that travelled from Cork with 3 friends, by car, train and ferry. They won't get home until late tomorrow. Another man came from Dover for the day. He'd seen so many tracks close in his time so he just wanted to turn up and show his support for Wimbledon.

Lots of passers by stopped to pet the dogs, many of them availing of photo opportunities when they were captivated by how docile the dogs were.

And there was only 1 unexpected visitor....a Jack Russell that came along to support his greyhound mate!!!

If you brought a dog to the event and would like its name added to the roll of honour above then please email me [email protected]

Happy to include the name of the Jack Russell!

I don't know where you got the figure 200-250 from. There were far more than that present. I would say that there were nearer 1000 than the figure you were quoting. there were over 100 in the pub!

Easy tiger

Purely a guess based on what I saw, obviously underestimated.
Still, it's all about the taking part that counts, right?

Lynda is collecting names of the hounds who attended today and I will collect the names of all winners of the Show of Passion races run throughout the UK. These hounds should go onto a Show of Passion Roll of Honour that we will ask Paschal to display in the Reception area of the new Wimbledon Stadium.

Jimmy Lollie, Kinda Ready, Victoria Falls, Plane Daddy, Nebuchadnezzar, Spiridon Louis, Coolavanny Bert.

Creamy May and Soldiers Tale. I hear that May especially liked the urban squirrel and tame pigeons near City Hall.

Still waiting to hear the name of the Jack Russell!
