Why?

He just won the Melbourne Cup in track record time.

They made the right move for his stud career IMHO.

PS I am going for Bobby The Brute to improve out of sight

I think he had less then 40 starts, and they are a long, long, long time retired -
In the past couple months hes gone 29.4 at the meadows and 28.9 at Sandown !! All that tells me is hes the fastest dog in the land. At the end of the day hes only won the one G1, hes potentially go the ability to win a couple more - and I think the Sale Cup may have been one of them

I agree with Sandro, it was smart to retire him whentheydid. Breeders are a very fickle bunch. A couple of unplaced runs and they are forgotten and put on the back burner.

Interesting thoughts.. I had no punt or skin in that outcome.

Reason for my reply is about breeders being fickle? Really? I'm not seeing that. I kind of look for and rarely find dogs that have sires with at least 30 starts and dams with at least 10 so I know they can hold up/have strength and can recover.

That's almost non-existant these days.

I can find a proven sire with more than 40 starts like Fernando as an example only but then goes with an unproven or 5 start bitch.

If we're breeding for a resilient product I am not seeing it based on trends.

You basically got firecracker sires (limited starts but good prizemoney) going with okay bitches or you got established sires with some decent track record going to limited or no start bitches. Hardly gives me any confidence when making a purchase.
